The Area Agency on Aging at the Kerr-Tar Regional Council of Governments plans, develops and administers home and community-based services for adults aged 60 years and older in the five-county Kerr-Tar Region.
The agency aims to enable older adults to live independently in their own homes or in the community for as long as possible.
Agency staff work with county aging programs and senior centers to study the needs of older persons and to plan services to meet those needs.
The Kerr-Tar Area Agency on Aging is one of 17 in the state designated to help North Carolina carry out the mission and goals of the federal Older Americans Act of 1965. These 17 regional agencies collaborate with the N.C. Division of Aging and Adult Services to assess, plan for and meet the needs of the state’s aging population.
