Natural Resource Stewardship

The Kerr-Tar Regional Council of Governments (COG) works with partners on the state and local level to ensure the region’s resources are developed wisely.

Water Quality
The COG works with partners to assess water conditions and improve policies related to water quality, sewerage services and storm water run-off for the three river basins that flow through the region.

Air Quality
Three of five Kerr-Tar counties have been designated as “non-attainment areas” by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. The Kerr-Tar Regional Council of Governments (COG) is working with local officials to plan ways to reduce emissions and improve the region’s air quality. The Kerr-Tar counties are part of the Triangle Ozone Non-Attainment Area.
