Technical Assistance

The Kerr-Tar Regional Council of Governments (COG) provides technical assistance to the five county and 15 municipal governments in the region when they experience difficulty developing the resources they need to provide services for their constituents.

Grant application support
The COG can help local governments plan for resource development, identify potential grants, help with grant applications and serve as a liaison with the N.C. Local Government Commission, which provides financial management expertise and assistance to local governments.

Recently, the COG has helped local governments secure grants for sewer and water system expansion and renovation, law enforcement communication and vehicle system improvements, electronic infrastructure development and planning for regional infrastructure systems.

Other types of assistance
The COG also provides logistical and facilitative support for a wide range of regional planning efforts in such diverse areas as solid waste, electronics infrastructure development and law enforcement information systems development.
