Granville County Gang Assessment
The Granville GAIN (Gang Assessment and Improvement Network) comprehensive gang assessment for Granville County is ready for public review.
The 146-page report includes key assessment findings, all data collected and a summary of best practices research the county can use to develop next-step action strategies.
It is anticipated that as citizens review and consider the report’s information, they will be motivated to volunteer in the next phase of the effort — creating and implementing strategies designed to direct Vance County’s young people toward activities and other actions that teach, foster and support productive lives in the context of encouragement, compassion, structure, opportunity and personal accountability.
The assessment was the first of a two-phase effort designed to answer questions about the degree of gang activity in the county, what kind of activity there is, and what resources are needed to address it. The second phase will use the assessment information to create and coordinate services that will redirect young people to other positive alternatives.
Granville GAIN is funded by a grant from the N.C. Department of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention administered locally by the Granville County Juvenile Crime Prevention Council (JCPC). Similar projects are under way in 70 counties across North Carolina.
