Juvenile Justice
At-risk youth and their families in Caswell, Franklin, Granville, Person, Vance and Warren can access a variety of services and resources to help overcome the challenges they face.
The programs are offered by the North Central Alliance for Youth, a regional collaborative effort of the Kerr-Tar Regional Council of Governments (COG) and Juvenile Crime Prevention Councils from each county. The alliance offers:
- Juvenile Structured Day Programs are available at two sites in the region to provide tutoring and prevention/intervention services to youth who have been suspended from school and might be unsupervised during the day.
- Emergency Shelter Care , residential care for short-term placements outside the home from one to 30 days, is available for youth who are under the supervision of the Department of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention.
- Substance Abuse Prevention Services assess children involved in justice court for substance abuse, education and counsel students on the dangers of substance abuse and effective decision-making; and provide referrals to treatment.
