Transportation Planning

The Kerr-Tar Regional Council of Governments (COG) helps local governments in Franklin, Granville, Person, Vance and Warren counties assess their transportation needs and secure funding to meet them.

Projects

The Kerr-Tar Regional Planning Organization (RPO) pursues an annual Planning Work Program (PWP) to meet the transportation planning needs of the region. RPO staff develop the PWP in collaboration with the Rural Transportation Coordinating Committee for approval and adoption by the Rural Transportation Advisory Committee.

Currents RPO projects are:

  • Regional Planning - Developing Comprehensive Transportation Plans to support the five-county region's economic growth and expand mobility options for residents.
  • State Planning - Coordinating the public process to identify and prioritize projects that should be included in the state's Transportation Improvement Plan.
