About Workforce Development
The Kerr-Tar Regional Council of Governments (COG) leads a six-county regional effort to implement the federal Workforce Investment Act (WIA), the nation’s leading principal workforce development legislation.
The cornerstone of the WIA in the Kerr-Tar Region is the JobLink “one-stop” Career Center system, which unifies numerous training, education, and employment programs into a single, customer-friendly system in each community.
Kerr-Tar’s JobLink Career Centers provide services in Caswell, Franklin, Granville, Person, Vance and Warren counties of North Carolina. Job seekers, job training seekers, and employers can access the JobLink system as a gateway to a wide variety of employment, training, educational, and other human resource development programs and activities.
Governance
Three boards work in partnership to ensure performance, accountability, and achievement of regional workforce goals:
- The Kerr-Tar Workforce Development Board works in partnership with the Job Training Consortium to ensure goals are met.
- The Kerr-Tar Youth Council plans and oversees employment and training program for youth aged 14–21.
