Kerr-Tar Region local governments offer a wide range of services to help seniors citizens live independently in their homes and the community for as long as possible.

  • Eight senior centers serve older adults in the five counties with meal services (home-delivered or in a group setting), in-home aide, adult day care, transportation and a range of center activities to help seniors stay healthy, happy, active and independent.
  • A Regional Ombudsman program works closely with county committees and state and county agencies to ensure the rights of patients in long-term care facilities. The Regional Ombudsman monitors care facilities and investigates complaints on behalf of residents or their families.
  • A Family Caregiver Support network, supported by the Kerr-Tar Area Agency on Aging with others statewide, provides information and referral to resources for caregivers of aging adults.

Contact county aging programs to learn more about specific services offered in each county.

Contact the Area Agency on Aging staff at the Kerr-Tar Regional Council of Governments to learn more about regional plans and services or for advocacy or caregiver resources.
